“The Ghost of Velimirovic”
Anand-Ivic 0-1. You  play black, prize $250

Anand lost with white against Ivic. Velimir, 23 years old, 2623 rating. Anand – 2743.

The world is turning upside down. But there is a certain pattern here. The strength of older masters is declining, and this is an irreversible process. Their time is coming to an end, and new players are coming in.

Let's look at this game. I'll put it this way. 11.g4 was a fantasy of the world champion, but one that is now beyond his capabilities. We won this game with white, in the style of Anand in his best years. If Anand had played it this way, I would believe that he has a chance to regain the title of world champion. One of the 100 most beautiful games by Goldchess, i.e. our own.

It will be a task in our Special New Year tournament, the Special Christmas Top Tournament, with a prize of $250 and an entry fee of $10. Three games of extraordinary beauty. One of them. There is no such game in the entire chess literature, and probably there won't be one for another 500 years...

We invite everyone, especially grandmasters from the top 100 chess players in the world. And this is not just an invitation, it is a challenge. Come and show us what you can do.
If one of them wins this game, it will be our ticket to the world championship title. If there are a large number of participants, the organizer may significantly increase the prize. We will announce this one hour before the tournament.

Kramnik-Naroditsky 1-0 (2015) Win with black. Prize $500
Grandmaster Kramnik accused Daniel of cheating in the game. Perhaps this contributed to Daniel's death. He is currently facing ethical charges. We wonder why Kramnik did this. Where did he get this information? They only played each other twice, with one game ending in a draw and the other won by Kramnik. So on what basis did Kramnik make such accusations?
We analyzed the game won by Kramnik. Our opinion: it was a completely undeserved victory.
We reversed the result. We have a great checkmate and a beautiful win, which is a combination of extraordinary strength and chess virtuosity. Although our computer played for Kramnik, Kramnik himself would not have been able to defend against this attack.  Let these extraordinary games be our gift and posthumous satisfaction for Daniel.

Theodorou-Perez 1-0. Game of the day from 31 December 2025 on chessgame.com

It cannot be said that the top 100 chess players do not know how to play chess. But it can be said that in each of the games they lost, they simply played poorly and below their capabilities. And this applies to everyone, including world champions. This game is also an example of very poor defence.

White attacks on the kingside, while literally all of Black's pieces are on the queenside. A rarity at this level. See the diagram. The masterful display of chess in this game is our gift not only to Perez, but to all grandmasters in the top 100.

It was played by our analyst, an amateur chess player, who won with black.

It will be in our Top tournament on 17 January, with a prize of $100. The prize is modest, but winning this game is worth thousands of dollars in satisfaction. We invite everyone who thinks they can play chess, including the best of the top 100. Unless they are afraid, of course. Then they may not play.
